Christmas Isn't Over!

Are you heading back to work today and wishing Christmas could last a little bit longer? Well good news – it does! While the prevailing tradition in the U.S. is to take down the holly and mistletoe immediately after New Year’s, many cultures observe Christmas traditions that last well into January.

One tradition is scrumptiously represented by the Galette de Rois, or King’s cake. A flaky, buttery puff pastry shell filled with a creamy almond paste, the Galette de Rois is eaten in celebration of Epiphany, when the three Magi arrived in Bethlehem bearing gifts for the Christ child. A lot of fun customs surround the King’s cake. A fève (originally a bean, but now generally a ceramic or plastic figurine) is buried somewhere in the cake, and whoever finds the fève gets to be the king and wears a paper crown.

If you want the celebration to continue, take a look at our Holiday Specials page to order your own Galette de Rois. Who knows? You might even get to be the king!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
